Astoria woman killed by hit-and-run driver

ASTORIA, Queens— A Queens woman was killed while crossing the street by a hit-and-run driver.

Betty Jean Dibiaso, 21, was crossing Ditmars Boulevard in Astoria around 12:30 a.m., when she was hit by a car.

The car fled the scene it hit her, knocking her to the pavement.

She was discovered by police unconscious and unresponsive with severe head trauma. Dibiaso was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
