Driver killed after car collides with MTA bus on Staten Island

BULLS HEAD, Staten Island (PIX11) — A driver was killed when his car collided with an MTA bus in Staten Island then struck a fence early Tuesday, police said.

The collision happened about 4 a.m. near Victory Boulevard and Signs Road.

The driver of a Lexus was traveling north on Victory Boulevard when he hit an MTA bus traveling in the opposite direction, police said.

The victim’s car hit the bus then careened into a fence. He was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the NYPD.

The deceased has not been named because his family has not been notified of his death, police said. The Lexus driver was 32 years old.

The unidentified bus driver, 52, was taken to a hospital with a leg injury, police said. There was one passenger on the bus, but she wasn’t injured, police said.

An investigation is underway.
