BOROUGH PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Residents who live on a quiet block of Borough Park say they never heard of such a violent home invasion like the one that happened Saturday night.

According to police, just after 11 p.m., three men pushed their way into the second-floor apartment at 1121 39th St. and fired at least one round through a closed bedroom door, hitting a 35-year-old man once in the upper left thigh.

Police say the three men escaped with at least $2,000 in cash.

"I've lived here for 30 years and I have never heard of something like this happening here," Beatrice Suarez, a neighbor, told PIX11 News.

As police canvassed the neighborhood looking for witnesses or surveillance footage, residents who had lived on the block for more than three decades said they'll remain fearful until the culprits are caught.

"I live just a few doors away," Vincent Siclari said. "I have an 11-year-old daughter. This is very concerning."
