SHEEPSHEAD BAY, Brooklyn (PIX11) – Police are looking for a burglar who broke into a home through a window screen but was caught on camera while trying to shield his face from surveillance.

The suspect used a yarmulke, a traditional Jewish skullcap, to hide his face from cameras, according to police, as he entered the home near Homecrest Avenue and Avenue V.

The man cut a hole in the screen covering a side window and slipped inside, lifting a Samsung Galaxy S3 and $20 cash from the 35-year-old resident before fleeing. ┬áHe also clipped a wire running to a surveillance camera on the property, but it didn’t prevent police from sending out his image.

Police describe the suspect in the April 15 burglary as a white male last seen wearing a hooded zip-up sweatshirt.

Anyone with information is urged to call the anonymous police tip line at 800-577-TIPS (8477).
