BAY SHORE, N.Y. (PIX11)– A 97-year-old woman was saved from the grips of death when a Suffolk County officer along with a Good Samaritan pulled her out from her car after it submerged under water in Bay Shore Marina Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.

Police say they received a call around 1:11 p.m. Saturday that a woman drove into Bay Shore Marina, located at the end of Clinton Avenue.

When authorities arrived, Officer Nicholas Aspromgos discovered the car was under water and an elderly woman was inside with water up to her neck, police say.

The windows in the vehicle were rolled up and the doors were locked.

Aspromgos broke the window and pulled the woman out of the car. With the help of a nearby man, Aspromgos lifted the woman to the dock.

The woman, a resident of Bohemia, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
