Chris Rock is known for turning controversy into comedy, but a series of social media posts by the Brooklyn native have sparked conversation over a serious topic – racial profiling.

Rock says he was pulled over by police officers 3 times in just 2 months. With each encounter, Rock snapped a selfie and shared the photo on social media.

During an Instagram post earlier this week Rock wrote, “stopped by the cops again wish me luck.”

Actor Isaiah Washington joined the conversation when he replied to Chris Rock over Twitter, ”I sold my $90,000.00 Mercedes G500 and bought 3 Prius’, because I got tired of being pulled over by Police. #Adapt.”

Some asked online, did Washington suggest Chris Rock drive a cheaper car to avoid racial harassment?

Washington spoke with PIX 11 News Thursday evening to clarify his comments, “I wasn’t suggesting assimilation,” Washington said.

“The reason why I put that tweet out there, the way I did, it was really kind of like an April fools, like a tease, “he explained.

Washington says his goal was to spark conversation and intense dialogue, which it appears he’s accomplished.

Stopped by the cops again wish me luck.
