BROOKLYN (PIX11) —  It has been a tough few weeks for Allison Buchanan of Brooklyn.

Her daughter unknowningly injested a marijuana brownie from a classmate back in February.

Danieel Buchanan, 17,  has been partially paralyzed ever since! She’s been transefered to three different hospitals.

Doctors are at a loss to determine what caused the paralysis.

The story has genegerated a lot of attention on social media; over 300,000 hits were reported on the PIX11 website and close to 30,000 on the Help Me Howard Facebook page.

Allison Buchanan sent me an email because she was having problems with Empire Blue Cross.

She says the insurance giant denied prescribed rehabilitative therapy and she needed my help.

Our first story touched off a wave of back and forth phone calls and email between myself and Empire Blue Cross. By mid-week Empire Blue Cross was saying that there was a misunderstanding and was re-evaluating it’s position.

As for the 18-year-old classmate who sold Danieel Buchanan the brownie, he’s been arrested by the NYPD. For more on this story watch the PIX11 news Monday at 5 p.m.
