Predator follows woman home, sexually assaults her: NYPD

LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan (PIX11) -- A 51-year-old woman was choked and sexually abused by an unknown man after he followed her into her Lower East Side building, police said Friday.

Authorities say the attack happened on the fifth floor of the victim's building shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. That's when a man approached her from behind, choked her and sexually abused her, according to NYPD. The victim fought off her assailant who then ran away.

The victim was then taken to a hospital where she was treated for bruising to her hands and neck, police said.

NYPD released surveillance video of the incident showing the attacker, who police say appears to be in his mid 30s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds.
