Multiple people injured in Barnard College dormitory fire: FDNY

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX11)– FDNY says a fire broke out at a Manhattan building that also serves as dormitory for Barnard College students late Tuesday evening.

FDNY tweeted shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday about a blaze in a shaft on the first floor at 600 West 116 Street. They said it was under control by 12:46 a.m.

Five people with minor injuries were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, according to FDNY.

Some students offered their rooms for those displaced by the Morningside Heights blaze. Classes resumed as normal

Ollie’s Noodle Shop and Grille, which is located below the dorm, was also damaged.

The building used for the dorm also houses private apartments.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
