THE BRONX (PIX11) -- Police are hunting for a man who forced a 12-year-old girl into a Bronx alley and raped her Tuesday.
Authorities say the victim was walking in the vicinity of East Tremont Avenue and Southern Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m. when the suspect walked up to her, grabbed her arm and threatened to kill her if she screamed. The suspect attempted to enter 2 buildings on East 179th Street with the girl, but the doors were locked.
The suspect then forced the victim into an alley on the side of a building on Daly Avneue where he raped her. The little girl fled the alley, and the suspect ran in the opposite direction.
Parents in the neighborhood are disturbed to hear of rape.
"It's a complete shock to me to hear this 12-year-old girl was raped just not to far from my son's day care," said a father of a 2-year-old. "Terrifying to know that there are predators out here... there's no control."
Police say the suspect is a dark skinned male in his early to mid-teens and is 5'2" tall and he did not know the victim. According to police, it was a random incident on the street.
