JERSEY CITY (PIX11) -- An elderly man was injured during a 3-alarm fire at an apartment building on JFK Blvd. in Jersey City Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded to the call just after 8 a.m. and the fire was under control within the hour. The 4-story building at JFK Blvd. and Boyd Avenue was evacuated and no one was trapped.

A 70-year-old man was taken to the hospital for burns to his hands and smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

The fire was upgraded to 3 alarms because responders say some fire hydrants in the area were frozen.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
