BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Police are questioning the aunt of a 3-year-old boy who was found dead inside a Brooklyn home Wednesday.

Officers responded to a 911 call at house on Rockaway Parkway in Brownsville at about 1:30 p.m. Cops found  Ethan Ali unconscious and unresponsive with bruises on his body. EMS pronounced the child dead at the scene. Sources say little Ethan's body was covered in belt marks.

Ethan's aunt was his babysitter.

"I just hear that aunty beat him, I don't know why he died, I just hear aunty beat him to death, I don't know," Ethan's grand-aunt, Jennifer Evans, told PIX11.

Around the neighborhood, Ethan was known as a playful kid. He always had a huge smile on his face. Now his parents will plan a funeral and face the reality that the boy’s own aunt may be held responsible for Ethan's death.

"I'm devastated, I'm sad," said relative Devon Evans. "I would say that's a sick person if that really happened, and she really beat the child that's a sick person."

The Medical Examiner will determine the child's cause of death.
