NEWARK, New Jersey (PIX11) — An attempted robber was fatally shot in front of a Newark deli Tuesday.

Mark Robinson, 46, tried to rob Neighborhood Deli Supermarket at 48 Irvine Turner Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Robinson pointed a gun at the store owner when the owner fired at him, officials said.

Robinson was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m. His weapon was found at the scene of the shooting.

No charges have been made against the store owner, who legally possessed the gun he used to shoot Robinson.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
