MEMPHIS, Tenn. (PIX11) – A Tennessee man is accused of severely beating a 3-year-old boy over cheesecake.

Anthony Gulledge, 30, was arrested Sunday after getting physical with the child who ate the last piece of the dessert. Gulledge allegedly dragged and whipped him as punishment, WREG reported.

The boy’s mother, Katrina Johnson, 21, told police Gulledge hit him again afterwards. The beating caused the child to suffer a dislocated vertebrae and a broken femur.

Gulledge, who is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $200,000 bond, denied hitting the child, the station reported. He was charged with aggravated child abuse and domestic assault.

Police arrested the child’s mother the next day. Johnson was also charged with aggravated child abuse for not trying to stop the beating and waiting until the next day to get the boy medical attention, police told WREG.

She is being held on $75,000 bond.
