JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (PIX11) — A 60-year-old man in Florida was arrested after police say he impregnated a 12-year-old girl.

According to WJAX, the 12-year-old girl told police that she was pregnant and that Walter Johnson impregnated her.

Johnson allegedly had sex with the girl multiple times in the first week of October 2014 and a New Year’s Eve test confirmed she was carrying a baby, according to an arrest report by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

After finding out that the girl was pregnant, Johnson reportedly called 911 and threatened to commit suicide.

Johnson told police that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and that he is not taking his medication.

He was taken into custody, but denied having sexual conduct with the girl.

A family member of the victim told WJAX that Johnson had been a family friend for 40 years and had even lived at the girl’s home in 2011 and 2012.

A spokesperson for the Department of Children and Families say they are investigating and that the 12-year-old is now in the custody of her family.

Johnson has been charged with three counts of sexual battery of a victim between ages 12 and 18.

He is being held at the Duval County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on $1.5 million bail, according to the facility.
