BRONX (PIX11) — Police are searching for a man who assaulted a young girl and stole several of her belongings in the Bronx.

The man approached an 11-year-old girl on the corner of East 187th Street and Bathgate Avenue Dec. 18 around 8:00 p.m.

He punched her in the face and fled the scene with her cell phone and backpack, police said. The girl refused medical attention at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old black man, approximately 5-feet-10-inches and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black and gray jacket with a gray hooded sweatshirt.
