HAMPTON BAYS, New York (PIX11) — An allegedly intoxicated man speeding at 106 miles per hour with children in the car was arrested Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Mark E. Palmer, 49, of Glen Cove was stopped while traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway west of exit 65 in Hampton Bays. Upon interview, Palmer observed signs of intoxication. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

His children, ages 6, 8 and 11, were also in the Dodge Ram. Palmer was charged with aggravated DWI, endangering the welfare of a child, and several traffic violations.

Palmer was being held for Thursday morning arraignment in Southampton Town Court. His children were released to a family member.
