HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (PIX11) — Nassau County police arrested a man after he allegedly ripped a diamond necklace from a woman’s neck and injured an infant during a robbery in Hempstead earlier this week.
At about noon Tuesday, an employee of the 24 Hour Laundry on Fulton Ave. was holding a customer’s 1-year-old daughter when Ralphael Brown, 19, approached her. Cops say Brown choked the woman and ripped the necklace off of her neck.
During the struggle, Brown allegedly pushed the girl and began kicking and stepping on her. Brown then ran away and was seen getting into a blue 2010 Mazda driving on Fulton Avenue.
Police arrested Brown after finding him at his Hempstead home.
The baby suffered injuries to her head, chest and back and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The employee suffered bruising and lacerations to her hand and chest, but refused treatment at the scene.
Brown was charged with Robbery second Degree, two counts of assault second degree, strangulation in the second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He will be arraigned on Friday.
