Fare and toll increases are happening in March 2015. The MTA this month finished up hearings on the recent proposal. MTA Board members will officially vote on the package in January 2015.

A group of transit advocates has been calling for increased funding, beyond fare and toll increases.  Although the proposal from MOVE NY calls for reducing some tolls and creating some new ones and making sure the money ends up spent on transit projects.

The group did not release complete details about a recent poll it conducted about potential support for the plan.

The MTA's Reinvention Commission called for further study in a report issued this fall. It asked leaders to consider real estate fees, parking revenue, or changes for tolls on bridges and tunnels. Any change to the fare and toll structure would require the support of leaders and riders.
