SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Police arrested a 35-year-old Scottsdale woman Saturday after her 9-year-old son turned up at a neighbor’s home screaming she was trying to kill him, according to KPHO.
The boy told officers he feared he would die had he not fled and was “just trying to stay alive,” an officer wrote in his report.
The victim alleged his mother, Shannon Robertson, had been drinking alcohol and tore his shirt, pulled his hair and attempted to choke him, court paperwork stated. He stated there had been violence in the home in the past, according to the court document.
When police contacted his mother, she said the boy made the whole story up. She said she didn’t want to tell officers her side of the story because it was none of their business.
Officers noted in the report that they could smell alcohol on Robertson. The woman was completely uncooperative and fought against being handcuffed and placed in the patrol car.
In the police report, the officer noted Robertson had been involved in a domestic violence incident in September.
The woman was booked into jail on charges of child abuse, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
