LOS ANGELES — Comedy Central star and comedian Amy Schumer has been tapped to host the “MTV Movie Awards” next year.

Schumer, 33, the star of “Inside Amy Schumer,”  will host the special, which airs April 12.  MTV has launched an aggressive social-media campaign to get the word out, including having Schumer take over the network’s Facebook page and other platforms.

“I am honored to be hosting the awards,” Schumer said . “I will carry the audience with me like a teen mom #breaktheinternet #breakmywater.”

The Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles will host the awards show.

Her show will be returning for a third season on Comedy Central  in April.  Schumer is also working on a new movie, “Trainwreck,”which is scheduled for release this summer.
