Three teens in custody after beating man to death with hammers

ST. LOUIS, MO. — Three teens are in custody after police believe they beat a 32-year-old Bosnian man to death with hammers. 

KTVI reports Zemir Begic was walking to his car early Sunday morning when he and the four suspects got into an argument.

The suspects then reportedly began hitting the 32-year-old with hammers. He died from his injuries.

Robert Mitchell, 17, has been charged with first degree murder.

The murder has sparked more protests in the South St. Louis area and some in the Bosnian community are calling the murder a hate crime.

The motive for the murder is unclear, police say.
