NYPD detectives, bystander injured in Brooklyn car chase

BROOKLYN (PIX11) -- Two NYPD detectives and a bystander were injured in a Brooklyn car chase Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say detectives from the 67th Precinct were following a suspect wanted for a string of pharmaceutical robberies in Brooklyn.

The suspect was pulled over near Nostrand and Synder avenues, and when the officers got out to question the driver, he sped off, hitting one of the officers.

The detectives got back into their car and chased the suspect, who then crashed his car into another vehicle driven by an off-duty officer at Avenue U and Stuart Street, injuring a passenger in that car.

The injured person was taken to Kings County Hospital.The two officers are being treated at Beth Israel and are in stable condition.

The suspect is in custody.
