NEW YORK (PIX11) — You didn’t have to watch CNN to find out the Republicans took control of the Senate in the midterm election tonight.  All you had to do is look at the Empire State Building, where the network used a meter on the tower’s top to flash the results in blue and red.

According to CNN’s news release, “a vertical LED-illuminated ‘meter’ located atop the spire of the building will ascend in either red or blue — reflective of the party. Once an illuminated color — red or blue — reaches the top of the spire, that party will take control of the Senate.”

Catch the live view of the top of the tower in PIX11’s live feed, above, as the tower shines Republican red.
