SUNNYSIDE, Queens (PIX11) – A legally blind 81-year-old was surrounded by supporters Tuesday as they renewed the call to find the heartless attackers who beat and mugged him outside a bank in Queens.
“It takes two cowardly individuals to hit a frail 81-year-old man,” said Mary Ann Gasparro, on behalf of her father Mr. Eichhorn who was attacked.
William Eichhorn had just withdrawn money from a Chase bank, located at 46-10 Queens Blvd., Oct 26 when he approached by a pair of men who punched him in the face and stole $100 in cash and his debit card, police said.
It happened shortly before 9:30 a.m.
“Mr. Eichhorn is a good man and just like any other person in our community deserves to live in peace,” said Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, who led the news conference. “No New Yorker should ever fear living in their own community.”
The culprits, who were caught on camera, are believed to be two heavy-set black males in their 20s or 30s. One man appeared to be wearing a leather jacket with dark-colored pants and brown boots, and the other was wearing a hoodie with a picture on the chest.
