LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (PIX11) — A father is teaching his 10-year-old daughter a lesson for lying about her age and acting “grown.”

Kevin Jones, of Louisville, Kentucky, went to Facebook Oct. 21 to share photos of his daughter, who looks older than her age and stands at 5 feet 9 inches tall.

“Saying she is 14, 15, 16,&18 years old. She claims to be in love and going out with a boyfriend which is completely against my rules!!!! [all sic]” the angry father wrote on Facebook.

Jones also revealed his daughter has been lying about her age for a long time. The girl even made social media accounts, despite the fact that he does not allow them.

In response, Jones gave the 10-year-old girl “an age defining shirt,” which says “I am 10 years old” in the front and “5th grader” in the back. Jones did not stop at the pink shirt. He also gave her a princess backpack, pink sneakers and hair clips.

Several Facebook users praised the father for disciplining his daughter in a creative way.

“Get her!!! Nice creative way to discipline yo baby girl. It will probably be way more affective than just yelling or a punishment!! Good job!!!” one person wrote.

There should be more parents like you. She might hate you now but she will thank you later…” another person wrote.

But others were not as supportive about the father’s actions.

Some parents go over board with stuff. That’s why the children act up and do things because when someone is told not to do something, they normally want to do it. Maybe try not to be so strict??? [all sic]” one person wrote on the 5th grader t-shirt photo.

Photos of the girl’s “age defining” outfit has since been shared more than 80,000 times and liked by more than 260,000 people.

Let her dress the way she wants to dress. You can help her understand personal identity without punishment.

I love it! Being a parent is always going to be a catch 22. We can’t whip any more & talking them to death doesn’t work or grounding. He should be awarded Father of the Year! The way she is dressed is how 10 yr olds are suppose to look.

I agree with you ASHLEY. Some news’ sources are calling this a “punishment”; however, your are correct: this is the way a 10-year old should dress.
I’d also restrict her from the computer for a month or so, and take her phone away. Hopefully, she’ll understand the danger of putting herself out there.

Yes, certainly. Let her dress and act as she pleases, telling people that she is of legal age. That way, she will get to learn the hard lesson of rape when she is 10 years old.
This is a terrible idea! This girl is setting her up for terrible danger, and needs the discipline and protection of her parents until she develops better judgement

This quote; “Some parents go over board with stuff. That’s why the children act up and do things because when someone is told not to do something, they normally want to do it. Maybe try not to be so strict???” Is exactly what is wrong with parents today? How asinine can you get? Parent the hell out of your children and do whatever it is you think the situation requires. People are so stupidly worried about having their kids “like” them, and not upsetting their kids, instead of worrying about what kind of self-entitled, obnoxiously expectant and horridly mannered people they’re raising. You’re not their friend. Lay down the law. Why are parents so opposed to parenting? It’s not fun and it’s not easy. It’s not supposed to be. Nothing worthwhile was ever made to be easy. And I think having well mannered, responsible, God fearing children is something worth having them hate you for in the moment of discipline. Grow the heck up, people. That dad was spot on.

Lying about age is serious. She could get into a lot of trouble, not only legally but physically as well. I don’t know this girl, but working in law enforcement I see it all the time. A girl says she’s older than she is and gets kidnapped and raped. This father gets an A+

To the person who said don’t be so strict. What do you think is going to result from a ten year old saying she is 18? pregnancy, rape, pedophile attack, embarrassment and loss of self-esteem when the truth comes out, loss of friends and respect….. Too strict? Idiot. or obvious the written by a child

This dad has the right idea! His cutie daughter doesn’t look 10 years old and I bet she already has men trying to pick her up. There are a lot of sick people out there and he needs to protect her even when she turns 20 years old!
