CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (PIX11)-- It’s an extreme case of teens behaving badly. Saturday evening around 9 p.m. a few dozen teenagers stormed down Troy Avenue in Crown Heights and mobbed the Gourmet Butcher on the corner of Carroll Street.

“It was a shock, it was a shock” one employee told PIX 11 News.

“They just started to take everything, slamming everything and whatever they could take down from the shelves in the entrance of the store,” he said.

An employee behind the counter of Gourmet Butcher called police while another chased away the group with a broomstick. Police are aware of the incident, but no arrests have been made in the case.

“There's no excuse for disruptive behavior and the police must respond swiftly,” replied Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

Adams watched the surveillance footage from the Crown Heights mob and said while he sees kids behaving badly, he also recognizes they need guidance and resources.

“We’re asking, what’s wrong with them? The question is: what’s wrong with us that we created an environment where our teens can’t find a place where they can gather?”

pix 11 left out 2 important points. The store was owned by an Orthodox Jew and the ‘kids’ yelled ‘Heil Hitler.’

What’s wrong with us?!? What a silly statement? This was a group of teenagers looking for trouble, not a group looking for a place to gather.

There is no excuse for racism and bias, and no excuses should be made, no matter who is committing the racist acts and who the racist acts are committed against. These young people are old enough to know right from wrong, and destroying a person’s property and physically threatening them cannot be excused as teenagers without a gathering place.
