MANHATTAN (PIX11) – Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square was evacuated Friday due to “fire concerns,” authorities on the scene said.

There was a heavy presence of FDNY first responders, and 34th and 35th streets between Broadway and Seventh Avenue were closed in the area.

An employee said it appeared that there was a fire on a loading dock that has since been evacuated.

Customers were evacuated from the store, which until 2009 was the largest department store in the world at 2.2 million square feet.
