(PIX11) -- Since early this year we’ve been telling you about Alex Dwek and his 7-year old daughter Maya Rose.

The New Jersey single dad is doing his best to try to help his daughter. She can’t walk and can’t speak -- and doctors don’t know why.

“They’ve ruled out autism?” I asked Alex last winter “Yes. And CP. They’ve ruled out everything. One muscle biopsy. Two muscle biopsies. A spinal tap.”

And still no answers.

But since we’ve been telling you about Maya’s situation, our PIX11 viewers have helped no end with suggestions. One of them was about a school in Clifton. Alex brought his daughter there and he tells us it’s helped a lot.

Now it turns out, out-of-town viewers who saw the story on our website have come up big.

T-gen, a Phoenix-based non-profit scientific research institute, saw the stories and has offered to conduct a series of tests on Maya free of charge.

“They’re doing complete testing, genetics testing for Maya which is very expensive. They completely picked up the tab which was nice.”

Alex is overwhelmed by all the concern and generosity show towards his daughter. We’ll be following up from time to time. If you have a suggestion that you think may help, get hold of me at my special email address: Howardshelpers@pix11.com.
