EAST HARLEM (PIX11) — An East Harlem teacher was so bored at a meeting, he jokingly texted his wife to “call in a bomb threat” — and she did exactly that.

The teacher at the Renaissance Charter High School for Innovation text messaged his wife “Call in a bomb threat” during the morning town-hall meeting, the New York Post reports.

Although he quickly followed up with a “haha” message, his concerned wife had already alerted the NYPD.

She realized she had overreacted and called back, but it was too late, and 8 police officers showed up at the school.

Cops questioned the teacher, only identified as “Eric,” and left without searching the school or making any arrests.

“It was meant to be a joke,” the school’s executive director Falla Riff told the Post. “It was misconstrued, and, boy, oh, boy, before we knew it, there were cops here.”

The school is investigating and it is unclear if Eric will be reprimanded.
