NEW YORK (PIX11) – The bloody new video by Adam Levine and Maroon 5 called “Animals” has caught the attention of anti-sexual assault and violence prevention groups with its graphic depiction of stalking and disturbing lyrics.

The video features 35-year-old Levine as a butcher who becomes fixated on a woman he spends his off hours stalking and photographing.   “Baby you think that you can hide, I can smell your scent for miles.”

While standing in the rain with his hood on, he stares up at her window fantasizing about stripping her naked under a shower of blood and slipping into her bed.  The female character is played by his own wife, South African model Behati Prinsloo.

“Baby I’m preying on you tonight, hunt you down and eat you alive, just like animals, animals,” Levine sings.

The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is speaking out about the video, saying in a statement:

“Maroon 5’s video for ‘Animals’ is a dangerous depiction of a stalker’s fantasy — and no one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance. The trivialization of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry. Survivors everywhere can get help 24/7 through the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org.”

So sad. Love Adam & Maroon 5, but this will probably not go well with many people. Way too visual. If it does become popular; it is not something to be proud of. Just sociopaths & psychos getting their ‘jam on’. JMO

What is going on with the world today?? Its a “MUSIC VIDEO”. We watch tv shows and movies that show more than what I just seen in this 2 minute video. Should we ban these tv shows and movies?! No, but they will get nominated for oscars and emmys. Come on…I am not saying sexual assault should go unnoticed but honestly lets take care of what’s going on in reality and stop stressing whats going on in someones music video….

um the music video is very creepy… and whats sad is I like the song and never actually listened to the whole song. I was like “oh its just about making love or something” I never realized that this vid was Adam Levine’s intention…. the whole lets have sex as a river of blood pours down on us is beyond creepy and I watched ALOT of psychological horror. it was too much.
