TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Rain and winds sweeping across the state could pose some trouble along the New Jersey shore and southern Long Island coast Thursday morning.
A high surf advisory has been issued for the New Jersey and Long Island coasts until 6 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect until noon for Atlantic, coastal Monmouth, Ocean and coastal Middlesex counties.
Forecasters are predicting northeast winds gusting to 35 mph and surf heights of 4 to 8 feet.
The weather service says areas prone to tidal flooding are expected to experience minor roadway flooding and beach erosion during hightide. That occurs around 9 a.m. along the ocean and later in the back bays and inlets.
