Man shot by police at Marcus Garvey Park in East Harlem

EAST HARLEM (PIX11) - Police shot and injured a man at Marcus Garvey Park in East Harlem Thursday afternoon.

The officers were inside the park near East 120th Street and 5th Avenue when they confronted the suspect.  After an altercation, police opened fire on the man, striking him in the chest.  One officer suffered unspecified physical injuries.

The man was taken to an Harlem Hospital where he is being treated.  His condition is not known.
