FAA investigates: piece of commercial jetliner found in Stewart Manor yard

STEWART MANOR, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A piece of a commercial jetliner was found in the yard of a Long Island home.

The Federal Aviation Administration says a piece of an A380 plane was found in the yard of a home on Carlton Terrace in Stewart Manor on Friday.

"The FAA will examine a piece of metal that was found in the yard of a Stewart Manor, NY residence today to determine if it came from an aircraft. If so, the FAA will investigate," the spokesperson from the FAA said.

No injuries were reported.

According to the plane's website, the A380 can carry 525 passengers.

Nassau County police and the FAA are investigating.
