THE BRONX (PIX11) – Comedian Chris Rock and actor Bobby Cannavale were hanging out at Thursday’s Yankees-Astros game when a foul ball came their way.
Sitting first row behind the dugout, Astros player Jon Singleton hit a looping foul that came straight down on the pair — just after stadium cameras had already focused on them.
Somehow, no one came close to catching the ball — Rock had his hands full and took cover, almost Salsa-stepping out of the way.
Cannavale may have had the sun in his eyes because he turned his back on the play at the crack of the bat.
The guy behind Rock really thought he caught it, bringing in the imaginary ball softly with both hands — he was was at least a foot away from the real ball, though.
The fan to Rock’s left looked more like a judo master than a ballplayer, as he deftly blocked any possible ricochet to the face, ensuring that he would never get the ball, not even on a bounce.
The ball plunked down untouched, wedging perfectly in Rock’s seat.
Being the awesome individual that he is, Chris Rock turned to the crowd, ball in hand, then immediately gave it to a boy a few seats over who will now be the coolest kid in class on the first day of school.
