MetroCard vending machines will be cash-only Saturday

New York City Subway and Bus Fares May Increase
NEW YORK (PIX11)
– If you’re going to take the subway this weekend, make sure your MetroCard is full – or you have cash on you.

The MTA is upgrading the software used by MetroCard vending machines Saturday so they won’t be able to accept debit and credit cards starting at 1 a.m.

Customers can still buy or fill up their MetroCards at vending machines using cash only.

All MetroCard vending machines at NYC subway stations, PATH, JFK AirTrain and LaGuardia Airport will be affected by the outage.

The machines should be fully upgraded no later than 9:30 a.m. Saturday, the agency said.
