NEW YORK (PIX11) -- From hot cars to dehydration, there are plenty of summer perils that could hurt children, or worse.

The MOMS’ Denise Albert explains low- and high-tech ways to keep kids safe this summer.

Using the acronym MOMS can help:

  • Move something to the backseat, so you don’t forget your child in the car
  • Overpack -- this applies to snacks, water, bug spray, sunscreen, etc.
  • Maintain hydration
  • Stay cool with swim and sunscreen
