Or in some cases landing a date for Fido – a play date that is. But now thankfully, there's an app for that.
It’s called Doggy BNB – a mobile app that connects dog owners with other dog owners in their proximity.
Whether it’s helping users find trustworthy people to look after their pets when they’re gone or making a puppy play date happen, the app functions like a social networking site for dogs.
“If you like someone and are interested in meeting them and they like you - we connect you,” explained Doggy BNB co-founder Adam Pokornicky. “It allows you to set up play dates, build community, find new friends -- whatever you want.”
Pokornicky got the idea to launch Doggy BNB after finding himself in a predicament that just about any dog owner could relate to.
“I needed to go away on a boy’s weekend and I was looking for help you know, texting all the people I would,” he said. “Basically everyone pretended they didn’t see the text.”
After missing out on a party weekend, the wheels started turning and the light bulb switched on.
The mobile puppy app has been described as being a dog-version of Tinder – the dating app where singles who are in a certain proximity, meet up and sometimes hook up.
Both share similar features and filters – but Doggie BNB founders insist their app is about bringing community together.
“I use Yelp and it really is not sufficient,” Sylve Curci told PIX11 News, while taking her pooch Tanner out for a walk in Washington Square Park Friday. “I would love for something like that to use.”
