Rollerblading student killed in hit-and-run crash on LI

STONY BROOK, Long Island (PIX11) — A 25-year-old was struck by a hit-and-run driver who left the rollerblading graduate student to die in a Stony Brook street, authorities said.

Artem Ayzen, of Brooklyn, was rollerblading shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday on North Country Road when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling east on the same roadway, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Police said the hit-and-run driver was in a dark-colored SUV that sustained front-end damage.

Ayzen, who studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, died from his injuries at a hospital.
