MANHATTAN (PIX11) -- Police released video Wednesday of a man who severely hurt another pedestrian by punching him in the face in the middle of a New York City street.
A single punch left the unsuspecting victim, 49-year-old Paul Martone in the hospital.
In the surveillance footage the attacker punches Martone, who approached him at West 55 Street and Ninth Avenue Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The blow knocked Martone to the ground and he struck his head on the pavement, suffering a serious head injury.
A source tells PIX11 the altercation started when the suspect stepped over Martone's dog to get to the sidewalk. Martone exchanged words with the suspected and the suspect responded with a punch.
"He just cold cocked him. I feel terrible,” said the victim’s neighbor John Herlihy.
Martone remains in the hospital in stable condition.
Police said the wanted man is in his 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, with curly blonde hair and a light complexion.
He was last seen wearing gray sneakers, a turquoise t-shirt and blue shorts.
