NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The 20-year-old mother of the abandoned child left alone at a Manhattan subway was located Tuesday morning, according to police.
A woman allegedly pushed the baby off a northbound No. 1 train at the Columbus Circle station at about 12:30 p.m. Monday, police say.
According to the NYPD, the woman then got back on the train, leaving the baby, believed to be 6- to 7-months old, alone in her stroller on the subway platform.
A passerby stayed with the child for 10 to 20 minutes, thinking the woman would come back. The kind stranger then called police.
The little girl was taken to Roosevelt Hospital. She is in the custody of Children's Services.
The woman is being questioned by police. Charges are pending.
