NEW YORK (AP/PIX11) - Authorities say a Queens man has been charged with murder in the strangulation of his 8-year-old son.
District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Monday that the defendant, Boujeke Kenmoe of Fresh Meadows, has been hospitalized. Information on his attorney was not immediately available.
Police and medical personnel responding to a 911 call at around 10:10 p.m. Sunday found the child, Jerry Kenmoe, dead on a bed with marks on his neck. They say his father was sitting on the floor with cuts on his wrist.
A preliminary report from the medical examiner says the child’s injuries were consistent with strangulation.
The DA says the defendant told EMS and police that he had choked his son and then tried to take his own life.
“This is a horrifying case of a father accused of murdering his own son, a defenseless eight-year-old boy, by choking him to death,” said Brown. “The defendant’s actions, if true, are incomprehensible in a civilized society and must be severely punished.”
Kenmore faces 25 years to life if convicted.
