Spike Lee invites NYC to Bed-Stuy block party

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) – On a sweltering block 25 years ago, audiences met Mookie, Mother Sister and Radio Raheem.

This weekend, Spike Lee will return to the Brooklyn neighborhood-turned-character for a free block party marking the anniversary of his iconic 1989 film “Do the Right Thing.”

It runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday on Stuyvesant Avenue between Lexington and Quincy avenues. Producer-writer-director Lee will MC the event.

At a news conference Tuesday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams is expected to dub Saturday “Do the Right Thing Day.”
