FAIRFIELD, Conn. (PIX11) — A suspicious package that snarled the Friday morning commute along the New Haven Line has an uncanny resemblance to a cartoon character.

Police in Fairfield released a photo of the item that ground trains to a halt at the Metro-North Fairfield station, and it looks a lot like the animated robot Bender from Fox’s sci-fi sitcom “Futurama,” created by the same man behind “The Simpsons.”

Whoever left the device — which appears to have two handles, as though it were a clock — sparked a frustrating commute for hundreds.

The Fairfield station was closed for at least two hours and commuters were warned that residual delays could last just as long.
