Power restored to more than 1,100 customers in Queens

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — The power is back on for more than 1,100 customers whose electricity was knocked out in Queens Thursday morning.

It was not immediately known what sparked the outage, but a spokesman for ConEdison said there were manhole fires and downed power lines in the area starting about 6 a.m.

Electricity was restored by 9 a.m., according to the utility’s online outage map.

The outage happened in the Richmond Hills-Howard Beach area of Queens. About 1,164 customers living within Rockaway Boulevard to the north, Aldrich Road to the south and between 86th and 98th streets were affected.
