Caregiver pleads not guilty in death of 4-year-old Myls Dobson
NEW YORK (AP) – A caregiver accused of beating, starving and burning a 4-year-old New York City boy has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.
Kryzie King was arraigned Thursday. The murder charge was added to her assault case after medical examiners concluded this spring that Myls Dobson died of child abuse, including dehydration.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office has said King scorched Myls’ leg with a hot oven rack, battered him with a belt and watched him starve before he was found unconscious Jan. 8.
She told police he died after falling in her bathroom.
He’d been left with King while his father was in jail on an unrelated case. Myls’ mother had lost custody.
The case spurred changes at the city’s child welfare agency.
