NEW YORK (PIX11) – Delays at New York’s Penn Station are finally easing after two Amtrak trains became stuck in the tunnels connecting the station to New Jersey.

The two trains experienced engine problems around 2:15 p.m., a spokesman said, adding that the breakdowns weren’t related.  One of the trains was headed for Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; the other for New Orleans, Louisiana.

The blocked tunnels caused 30-minute delays for NJ Transit customers, and delays of up to an hour for Amtrak customers.

Both trains have been cleared, but residual delays are possible.
