MEDFORD, Long Island (PIX11) — A body found in the woods is believed to be that of a young Long Island mother who went missing last Saturday.

Investigators and family of Sarah Goode, 21,  gathered  Camden Court in Medford, close to where the partially-decomposed body of a female was discovered at about 6 p.m. Thursday by a member of a search party.

Goode’s family reported her missing June 8 after not hearing from her for several days.

The single mom watched a movie at a friend’s home in Shirley and left at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning. Her family became alarmed when they did not hear from her.

Goode’s car was found under suspicious circumstances in a wooded area.

Family and friends have been leading the search for Goode, calling the situation a “nightmare.”

“I feel horrible for them and her 4-year-old daughter,” said family member Joseph Miller.  “She loved her daughter so much, I know that.”

The medical examiner is working to determine the victim’s identity.

Suffolk County Homicide Squad urges anyone with information to call their tip line at (800) 220-TIPS.
