TORRANCE, Calif. (PIX11) – A mother is facing murder charges after her three young daughters were found dead inside the family’s Southern California home, authorities said.

Three little girls ranging in age from 3 years to 2 months old were found lying in a pool of blood on the bed with their mother, PIX11 sister station in Los Angeles KTLA reports.

The mother, 30-year-old Carol Coronado, was found naked and holding a knife, investigators told KTLA.

Coronado was immediately detained and taken to a hospital. She was then taken to a sheriff’s station where she was expected to be booked for murder.

Coronado’s mother made the grisly discovery when she came by to visit her granddaughters Tuesday afternoon, KTLA reports.

Deputies responded to a home in the 1000 block of West 223rd Street in unincorporated Torrance, Calif., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

When they arrived, family members told the deputies that “a mother had killed her children,” the agency said in a news release.
