BELLMORE, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Catholic club was again the target of vandals this month after a religious statue was beheaded on the group’s front lawn, authorities said.

Investigators believe it happened between 10 a.m. May 13 and 10 a.m. May 14 outside 2333 Bellmore Ave. in Bellmore, the location of a Knights of Columbus club, a Catholic fraternal benefit society.

Vandals knocked over and broke a state of the Mary, decapitating the symbol of Jesus’ mother, the Nassau County Police Department said Thursday.

It’s the third time in 10 months that religious displays have been vandalized in the city.

Another incident happened at the Bellemore Knights of Columbus on July 16, 2013, police said. A Nativity Scene erected near Bedford Avenue and Broadway was destroyed Dec. 28, 2013.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $5,000 has been posted for tips leading to an arrest and conviction.
